Before you get your feet wet on your tubing adventure, meet your guide in Hanamaulu to get fitted with gloves, a helmet, and a headlamp. Once properly outfitted, you'll take a drive in a 4WD vehicle, traversing the former Lihue Plantation and Kauai’s lush green interior. En route, your knowledgeable guide will divulge the history of the more than 200-year-old defunct sugar plantation, and reveal insider tips for exploring the island.
When you arrive, you’ll receive your tube. Following a brief safety orientation, it’s time to finally get wet! The flowing current that originates near the top of Mt Waialeale─one of the wettest spots in the world─ gently carries you through the tropical waterways. The calm waters don't require paddling, making it an easy ride for most fitness levels. For close to an hour, you’ll zip in and out of tunnels, including one that’s almost a mile (1.6 km) long. Flip on your headlamp to examine the hand-dug tunnels and consider the labor that went into creating the waterways across the 17,000-acre (6,880-hectare) plantation.

Following your relaxing ride, get back on solid ground to enjoy a 45-minute lunch amidst the remote beauty of Kauai’s backcountry. Your picnic may include pita sandwiches, chips, cookies, and cold drinks. The trip was fun for my husband and granddaughter. They have enjoyed it two summers now. My complaint is about making a change to the reservation about a week prior to the trip. I found the office personnel inefficient and slow. I was on hold for long periods and persons on the other end were not on the same page with one another. I recommend improvement in organization and telephone dealings. Otherwise, a good trip!

Great fun adventure. quick drive thru beautiful canyon ends at the launching point where we got lots of interesting tidbits of history, biology, and culture of Hawaii. After a quick safety debriefing, we were in our tubes under a beautiful rain shower. The water temp is perfect in August... It was hot and humid outside and the water felt cool and refreshing. By the time we exited the second tunnel, the rain showers had passed and we had great warm sunshine. The lunch was a nice touch, build your own sandwiches with chips and drinks. Great awesome family fun! the excitement and energy and great cool info from our guide, Hollywood definitely added to our experience.... Thanks much

Totally fun trip for the entire family, young and old. Don't let anyone tell you the water is cold. It's not that cold and felt amazing. And the tour guides give great advise on what to do in Kauai and what restaurants to eat at. And you really get to see a part of the island that is normally off limits. Helicopter tours were flying by because of the beautiful plantation, but it's better to see it on the tubing adventure.

This was a very unique experience. The staff did a great job of making everyone feel at ease for those of us who didn't quit know what to expect going in. They were with us and guiding us as we traveled down the canal. I'd highly recommend this tour

Tubing was fun and the guides (John and Li) were great. The lunch was average. The historical perspective was interesting (how water was moved to water sugar cane plantations). We had fun and it was worth the money.
