After hotel pickup from downtown Juneau, experience a traditional Alaska salmon bake as your lunch or dinner. This all-you-can-eat outdoor adventure includes a sumptuous meal with dashes of sightseeing.
Dig into grilled Alaska salmon, cheechako chicken, Chilkoot baked beans, Tongass wild-rice pilaf, Alyeska au gratin potatoes, salad, beverages and a robust selection of other accompaniments, as well as a delicious blueberry cake for dessert. Beer and wine are available for purchase.
Afterward, roast marshmallows around the campfire, head up to the Salmon Creek waterfall or walk by the entrance of the historic Wagner Mine for glimpses of mining relics inside. Want to try your hand at panning for gold? Use the nearby trough to sift for treasures on your own.
Another special treat: Watch Doug Chilton, a Tlingit Master Carver, and his son, work on two 10-foot-tall (3-meter-tall) cedar totem poles and silver jewelry. Listen to the artisans share their ancestral lore and culture, and feel free to ask any questions. Pick up original works of art as souvenirs from the on-site gift shop. Was rainy and cloudy. food was good the gold panning no one was there to help and we never knew what we were doing

We chose this tour based on a recommendation in the Lonely Planet guide book. We enjoyed the commentary by Epaul, our bus driver to the event site, which was in a beautiful location in the forest. Most everything was downhill from there. The salmon was way overcooked, dry and tasteless except for the brown sugar sauce they poured on top. The side dishes were typical of a not-very-good cafeteria. Everywhere we turned, there was a tip jar, even for the guys cooking the salmon and for the bus drivers! For the price, we expected much better food and service. The high point of the meal was the music provided by a singer and guitarist. After eating, we walked around the site and saw salmon swimming up Gold River and dying. At the end of the trail was the old gold mine with signs warning not to try to enter. Scattered about the place was various pieces of old mining equipment. There were a few interpretive signs, but no guide and no one to explain the history of the site or how the mining operation worked. The bus ride back to the downtown area was unremarkable. In summary, we felt the tour was overhyped and not worth the cost in dollars and time. We don't recommend this tour.

Amazing food! The people were very friendly and the entertainment keep us there eating for almost two hours !! There is a beautiful creek with a waterfall, short easy walk. Also, don't forget they have a Bon fire with marshmallows to enjoy, with hot chocolate. It truly is the best value for great salmon, and many other selections, in Juneau.

The excursion and scenery were great. The food was delicious The ambiance of the picnic tables, camp fires and music playing was so much fun. When I bought the tickets they said we would be picked up at our hotel which was not the case for when I called to change the time of our dinner they told me that instead we had to meet at the transit system. I'm glad I called to change the time for we could have missed out on all the fun.

It was a very nice place and the people were very nice. The food was good and the kids enjoyed the surroundings.
