Make your own way to Lakeshore Drive where you meet your guide near Buckingham Fountain. After introductions, receive an orientation to the electric bike and a safety briefing. While similar to a traditional bike, the electric bike has unique features that your guide explains before you set off on your ride.
Once you’re ready, put on your bike helmet and follow your guide south along the Chicago Lakefront Trail. This wide and well-maintained bike and pedestrian path runs more than 18 miles (29 km) along Lake Michigan.
Pedal around Adler Planetarium on nearby Northerly Island and note the large sculpture with a functioning sundial that stands outside the planetarium, a National Historic Landmark. Continue to cruise along the island, which is actually a man-made peninsula and part of Museum Campus. Ride by the site's other notable museums, Shedd Aquarium and the Field Museum of Natural History, then see Soldier Field, the oldest NFL stadium and current home of the Chicago Bears football team.
After taking in the highlights of Museum Campus, continue to wheel along the lakeshore through Burnham Park, a large lakefront park with a number of manmade islands, beaches, meadows, sports fields and the 31st Street Harbor.
On your return, see a number of historic homes as you ride through the historic Prairie Avenue District, an important thoroughfare in the South Side neighborhood of Chicago. Many of Chicago’s political and business leaders lived here in the late 1800s. See some of the remaining mansions, such as the Glessner House and the Clarke House, which are both museums now.
After two hours, wind up your tour with a spin through Grant Park and return to Buckingham Fountain.
This tour covers about 8 miles (13 km) and is suitable for people who can ride a regular bicycle for 2 to 3 miles (3 to 5 km).行程概要出發地點
