The South Carolina Aquarium is located in downtown Charleston. Extending 200 feet into the Charleston Harbor, the Aquarium takes you on a journey through the geographic regions of South Carolina. Discover animals such as a bald eagle, an albino alligator, an endangered sea turtle and sharks as you journey from the mountains to the sea.
With your all-day admission ticket, take your time exploring the nine galleries featuring over 7,000 amazing aquatic animals spread across more than 60 exhibits. Get up-close views of river otters, endangered sea turtles, alligators, great blue herons, hawks, owls, sea horses, jellyfish, pufferfish, moray eels, horseshoe crabs, sea stars, pythons, sharks and many more.
The South Carolina Aquarium’s largest exhibit is the 385,000-gallon Great Ocean Tank. The exhibit extends from the first to the second floor of the Aquarium and contains sharks, several species of fish and an endangered sea turtle. At the Touch Tank, a family favorite, lean in and touch horseshoe crabs, stingrays and other marine life while enjoying interacting with Aquarium staff to learn more about these fascinating species.
At Zucker Family Sea Turtle Recovery, you can now experience the journey of sick and injured sea turtles from rescue to rehabilitation to release. Witness our veterinary team in action, providing medicine, nutrition and therapy to turtles as they recover. Then, practice your own veterinary skills as you diagnose turtles at simulated medical stations. Learn why sea turtles come to our care center and how you can help to protect them in the wild. Great Aquarium, but arrive EARLY as the place becomes unbearably crowded.

The aquarium was very fun and exciting. It shows lots of sea life as well as what goes on behind the scenes to ensure proper care and rescue of injured animals. There's a petting area filled with sting rays as well as people walking around with animals. We had a great time here and encourage others to visit...

This was a great experience. We even got a behind the scenes tour of the top of the tank. Meeting one of the divers and learning how they feed the big turtle and sharks was informative. A little later we were treated to Santa diver explaining more information about the animals in the tank. All of the volunteers were knowledgeable and friendly.

Petting the stingrays in the touch tank is enjoyable for anyone whom likes marine life. Also, if you visit this aquarium, please be sure to book an excursion to the sea turtle hospital. It is amazing and well worth the 10 per person.

It was nice if you have not been to too many aquariums. It was not as good as several others we have been to. We go go every aquarium at every city we visit, if there is one. For us it was a bit boring.
