Be wowed by some of the most renowned art of the 19th and 20th centuries at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, which dates back to 1862, making it one of the oldest public art institutions in the United States.
Whether you're an art aficionado or amateur, your admission ticket to this world-famous art museum in Buffalo gives you the opportunity to spend a day engaging with and learning about works by the legends of modern and contemporary art. The overall scope of the gallery will help you understand the evolution of art from the late 1800s through to the present and provides you with an intimate look at some of the greatest artists since the Impressionist era.
Start with Vincent van Gogh’s Man with a Scythe (among other works by the Dutch artist), and then move on to Paul Gauguin’s dramatic Le Christ Jaune. Next up, enter the 20th century with various sketches and paintings from Henri Matisse, as well as both classic and Cubist works from Pablo Picasso. Continuing through the 20th century, admire the gallery's collection of works by Jackson Pollack, Andy Warhol and still-working contemporary masters like Matthew Barney.
Depending on when you're visiting, you can also check out the gallery's temporary exhibits, which have included Giving up One’s Mark: Helen Frankenthaler in the 1960s and 1970s, Anselm Kiefer: Beyond Landscape, and Robert Therrien.
