Meet your knowledgeable guide at a central point in Boston’s South End to begin your food and neighborhood walking tour. The city’s lively food scene is constantly evolving; the restaurants mentioned are intended to give an idea of the places you may visit, but the itinerary could change on the day of your tour. Explore the South End neighborhood on foot, covering less than 2 miles (3.2 km) at a leisurely pace with frequent stops and some seated tastings.
Over the course of approximately 3.5 hours, sample foods from renowned local eateries and learn about the establishments and the chef-owners behind them. In addition, hear about the South End's history, culture and architecture from your guide.
Dive in with sandwiches at the Parish Cafe, where you’ll learn how some of Boston’s top chefs created their own sandwiches for the menu. Then, get a taste of Venezuelan cuisine and its blend of Andean and Caribbean flavors at Orinoco Kitchen. Orinoco Kitchen invites you to savor its dishes in the warm ambiance of a taguarita, a traditional family-run restaurant typically found in Venezuela.
Continue your tour with a sweet treat at Flour Bakery, a renowned bakery and cafe that makes cookies and pastries, among other delicious temptations. Down the street, tuck into fish specials such as New England fried clams at Morse Fish Company, Boston’s oldest fish market, established in 1903.
Across the street from Morse, get a look at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross, a Gothic Revival cathedral built in 1875 and one of the largest Catholic churches in New England. Then stop at the nearby gourmet food shop South End Formaggio for samples of artisan cheeses made in New England.As you make your way through this colorful historical neighborhood, your guide will also point out Victorian bow-front homes and share stories about some of the South End’s sights and famous residents. Great tour. Guide was friendly and knowledgable. Would have liked to be inside all the restaurants. Standing outside the places was fun but not the best

Our tour guide was knowledgeable and kept the pace moving. The selection of restaurants was great. I would take one of these tours again.

Rachel was awesome and the tour very informative. The food and the history experienced was terrific. The meatloaf sandwich was my favorite.

Alyssa was awesome! She gave us a lot of unique history and pointed out many interesting things from the past and present. The food was delicious and we enjoyed hearing about how the restaurants got their start. Top notch all the way!

We had a wonderful time on the South End food tour. Our guide, Rachel had a wealth of information about the neighborhood that she shared, which made the experience all the more interesting. The tastings were very good and varied. We have been on several food tours, both in Boston and NYC and this was one of the best. I would highly recommend this tour...it is a great way to get to know the South End!

Very good balance between history of the area, walking and eating. A good selection of restaurant choices. Not as much food as I've had on other food tours

Guide was wonderful, friendly and informative about the restaurants as well as the historical aspects. Nice variety of stops. Only complaint ? ... the food for tasting was almost too plentiful ! Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes.
