As you drive along the Kona coastline, you can often see splashing spinner dolphins or in the winter months and breaching humpback whales. Pass through the quaint plantation towns of Hawi and Kapaau, site of the life-size statue of King Kamehameha I.
At the end of the road, a brief rest stop at the historic Kohala Mule Station offers one of Hawaii's most spectacular coastal views. Then the real fun begins with a bumpy but short off-road drive in the 6x6 Pinzgauer. Ramble through a landscape of rushing streams, towering ocean cliffs and cascading waterfalls!
Once out of the Pinzgauer, you'll step back into the early 1900s when plantation owners began construction of the Kohala Ditch Trail. Along the 1.5 mile (2.4km) loop trail, you'll see tunnels blasted and carved from solid rock, walk over an aqueduct and learn the story of the tremendous effort it took to build the 22 mile (35km) irrigation system. The hike is considered easy to moderate with several short, steep climbs. The total walking distance is up to 2 miles (3.2km).
Seven beautiful waterfalls grace the trail and you can take a refreshing dip in the last pool visited and play under a refreshing cascade. With stunning mountain panoramas, green valleys and the abundant water, the Kohala Waterfalls Adventure is a fascinating way for young and old to experience Kohala's "story of water."行程概要出發地點

My husband, 7-year old son, and I had no idea what to expect, and were blown away by this amazing, beautiful adventure! Our guide (Justin) was very professional and extremely well-informed about the island's history. The approximate 2-mile hike through the rain forest was both visually stunning and physically achievable. This adventure was worth every penny. Do not leave Hawaii without treating your family to this adventure!!

This excursion was a great experience due to our wonderful guide Justin. He was so personable and informative but also laidback. We enjoyed every minute of our time. The places he took us were breathtaking and our boys loved swimming in the freshwater waterfall as well as riding off road in the Australian military vehicle. Also it was the perfect amount of time-still had most of the afternoon to swim at our resort. Definitely recommend!

This was an excellent tour and a real way of seeing the island. The tour guide was very well informed and took us in a four wheel drive vehicle where there are no roads. We then proceeded to hike to a couple of waterfalls. I gave this tour four stars instead of five because not everyone might be able to handle the hike especially if there are ambulatory issues involved as we hiked on somewhat primitive paths with overgrown tree roots. We were rewarded, though, with a dip in one of the waterfalls along the route. The tour includes a box lunch overlooking high cliffs with the ocean beating against them, spectacular! This tour is a great way for the adventurous to explore the islands.

This tour was great. Uncle Danny was our guide and he was amazing. He not told us about the history and culture of the island, but was a wealth of knowledge regarding the plants and animals on the island. The place Uncle Dan took us for lunch was amazing. It overlooked the Kohala Coast.

Great tour and tour guide! They took care of the little things like extra water, snacks, back packs, towels. Would love to do the waterfall again!

The tour and sites were absolutely amazing. Our tour guide was great. Very knowledgable and funny too. It was just an amazing experience and if I'm ever on the big island again I won't hesitate to go again!!
