Starting in the morning from York, this guided day trip provides the opportunity to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city to explore the North York Moors National Park and the fishing port of Whitby.
The tour departs from opposite the Dean Court Hotel in York city centre (near York Minster) at 9.00am and heads off into the Vale of York, passing by the famous Kilburn White Horse hill figure on the boundary of the North York Moors National Park, which your guide will tell you the history of, before heading for Helmsley.
The first stop is in the traditional market town of Helmsley where you can view the medieval castle, explore the quaint shops or just have a leisurely Yorkshire Brew - the choice is yours.
You leave Helmsley and head off through Hutton-le-Hole and up over the North York Moors for some photo stops, passing the 16th century Lion Inn on Blakey Ridge (the highest point on the moors) and Ralph's Cross, then through the quaint and picturesque Yorkshire villages that lead down into Whitby. As you arrive in Whitby, you will hear stories about the seaside town's history and your guide will point out the main places of interest that you may want to visit.
The tour stops in Whitby for more than two hours free time over lunchtime with options to view Whitby Abbey (inspiration for the Dracula books), visit the Captain Cook Museum, shop for some Whitby Jet or Gothic fashion, sample the famous Fish 'n' Chips at the Magpie Cafe or just enjoy the beach and waterfront - the choice is yours!
If you prefer to spend a little less time in Whitby and take the opportunity of travelling by steam train on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway at our special discounted rate (Adult 10/Child 5), you have the option of boarding the 2.00pm train from Whitby for the 45-minute moorland rail journey through Grosmont to Goathland (Hogsmeade Station in the Harry Potter movies) where you will be met by the guide. (This option is available mid-March through to October and is paid locally on the day with no need to book ahead).
The Minicoach leaves Whitby at 2.15pm with passengers not taking the train option for the equally scenic road journey to Goathland and aims to reach Goathland Station in time to see the other passengers arrive by steam train.
You will then have about 45 minutes in Goathland to learn about "Hogsmeade" Station and explore the fictional village of "Aidensfield" in the Heartbeat TV series.
After leaving Goathland, there will be a couple more photo stops as you learn the history behind the mysterious RAF Fylingdales Pyramid on Snod Hill and see the Hole of Horcum, before heading back towards York through the Howardian Hills with panoramic views of Castle Howard.
You will arrive back at the meeting point in York at around 5:15pm but should not book onward travel too close to the arrival time just in case of traffic problems.行程概要出發地點

Really enjoyed our day with Chris. Wonderful views and commentary though out the entire day. We enjoyed the steam train from Whitby very much. Highly recommend this tour.

Our driver Chris was so knowledgeable about history, local custom, geology, farming. He seemed to have a command of eveey subject. He was also a great driver. His navigation of tight areas was amazing. Would not hesitate to take another tour with him.

This tour is just brilliant. OMG the scenery is awesome. Our guide Mark was super. So much to see and do. Whitby is stunning and we opted for the steam train ride to Goathland which I highly recommend. Definitely would do this again if we went back.

Had a wonderful day - Whitby especially was spectacular! Even when overrun with tourists, this seaside town is full of atmosphere. Walking up the 199 steps to Whitby Abbey and admiring the views of the town below, listening to the seagulls and the wind gently blowing. Loved it!

Superlative. Our tour guide was the best--funny, informative and well organized! Just spent 17 days in the UK visiting Wales and the Yorkshire area. The trip to Whitby was the highlight of the trip! Our guide graciously asked the bus driver to drop several of us at the Abbey and let us walk down. It was fabulous. We got to see the Abbey and still had plenty of time to see the town of Whitby. Highly recommend this tour.

This tour was exactly as described on the website. The tour guide, Mark, was excellent and provided interesting demographics about each town we traveled through.

First visit to this part of England. Beautiful scenery . Our driver and guide Chris was excellent . The Steam train was a bonus the children loved it.

Really good day out, fun informative guide, the mores were beautiful, really nice stop in a scenic market village with an old castle, Whitby is really nice lots of shops and places to eat, there is the old side and new side, on the old side you can walk up to the ruined abbey, 109 steps! Beaches and amusements for kids. On the way back option of a short trip on a stream train, beautiful old southern engine on my trip. Only minor points seats on the minibus are a bit small but ok, Whitby has a few cobbled streets and if you go on the train you need to walk up and over a bridge to the other platform! The stop is hog warts

The trip into the North York Moors was the highlight of my two weeks in the UK. Every view was a picture postcard. It felt like you were on top of the world, looking down into the valleys below. I will visit this beautiful part of England again!

whitby is an interesting place,
the air was really windy in the moors, and there is not a really good spot/place in the moors to relax, so dont expect more for the moors, and dont take this tour if you really interested in moors
